We wish to bring many good things to life.

Who We Are

In 1995 founder Rose Walton, who has a son with intellectual disabilities, could not find a place for her son to stay while she worked. He was 15 years old, and research revealed that there were no programs in the area for teenagers or young adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities. In June of 1999, with personal savings and a loan from the Louisville Central Community Center, she opened Exceptional Teens & Adults Adult Daycare Center. In August of 1999 ETA Teen Center opened for teenagers and school-aged young adults. In 2002, ETA Teen Center Inc. became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

The beginning of growth came in 2008, when Exceptional Teens & Adults moved to its current location at 724 W Breckinridge Street. The growth continues with our major Capital Campaign, renovating our remaining space into a  gymnasium and center for the teen program.

What Can We Do For You?

The mission of Exceptional Teens & Adults is to provide opportunities for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities to live independent and extraordinary lives.

Adult Program

Exceptional Teens & Adults is a structured program of continuing education training and leisure activities for adults with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities.

Respite care services are provided on a short term basis in the absence or need for relief for the family or caregiver. Services can be provided in the community.

Adult Day Training

Adult day training services support individuals in daily, meaningful routines at the center and in the community by stressing activities of daily living, self-advocacy, adaptive and social skills, and vocational skills.

Community Living Supports (CLS)

CLS is provided to facilitate independence and promote integration into the community for an individual residing in their own home or their family’s home. The supports and assistance are related to goals and objectives of the individual, which may be household tasks, personal hygiene, shopping, money management, and socialization,  and are provided on a one to one basis

Our capital campaign is to create a new space for our teenagers. Our goal is to renovate the remaining 14,000 square feet of the building to include a gymnasium and teen center.

In a grassroots effort, we are asking our supporters to support our project with donations to help us in our expansion. Our organization relies on the generosity of friends like you to help us serve more individuals and families in our community. Therefore, all money raised directly benefits ETA Teen Center and is tax-deductible.
